Sri Ganesha Suprabhatam

|| shrii-gaNeshAya namaH ||

prātaḥ smarāmi gaṇanāthamanāthabandhuṃ |
sindūrapūrpariśobhitagaṇḍayugmam |
uddanda-vighna-parikhaṇḍana-caṇḍadaṇḍaṃ |
ākhaṇḍalādi-suranāyaka-bṛndavandyam || 1 ||

uttiṣṭhottiṣṭha gaṇesha prabhāte tava devatā |
pūjayituṃ prārthayanti tvāṃ vighneśa sureśvara || 2 ||

kausumbhaur-bhāsurāmbhodair-vantasyair-mukulodyataiḥ |
prātar-maṅgalyam-āśāsu tava bhaktimatāṃ gaṇesha || 3 ||

prātar-namaste sadā tubhyaṃ gajavakra sureśvara |
śreṣṭhagantā namaste'stu te nityam-abhayapradaḥ || 4 ||

prātaḥ prabhātī sukhī bhūyāt-prabhāte śambhoḥ sutaḥ |
prātaḥ prabhātī gaṇeśo'yaṃ mama priyatamo gaṇaḥ || 5 ||

śuklāmbaradharaṃ devaṃ vakrālaṅkāra-śobhitam |
śaśivadanaṃ tamāśrayya prātar-utthāya vande || 6 ||

modakaṃ bhakṣayanneṣa vinā cet-prāṇino gaṇāḥ |
prātar-yathā tvāṃ namastubhyaṃ śakrādyair-api vandita || 7 ||

mūṣaka-stambhakṛt-pādau yasya gajamukho gaṇaḥ |
prātar-namastu varada tvaṃ me dehi varaṃ prabho || 8 ||

prathamaṃ jāyate nityaṃ prathamaṃ nāma bhāsate |
prathamaṃ smṛtaḥ sarveṣāṃ prathamo'si maheśvara || 9 ||

ekadanto dvitīyo'si tryakṣo vāpi catarvidhaḥ |
pañcavaktraḥ ṣaḍavadano vā sarvarūpadharo gaṇaḥ || 10 ||

gajānano hastibhir-yukto vrāto vā tu gaṇeśvaraḥ |
vināyako vighnarājo vā gaṇapatio varadaḥ || 11 ||

sarvasiddhi-prado deva sarvavighna-vināśanaḥ |
sarvamaṅgala-maṅgālyo bhaktānāṃ ca sukhapradaḥ || 12 ||

prātaḥ smarāmi deveśaṃ vighneśaṃ sarvasiddhi-dam |
prātar-namāmi deveśaṃ gajānanam-anāthavat || 13 ||

prātar-bhajāmi deveśaṃ vighneśaṃ sarvasiddhi-dam |
prātar-vande ca deveśaṃ gajānanam-anāthavat || 14 ||

English Translation

(1) In the morning I remember Gananatha, the friend of the Lord,
Whose two tusks are resplendent with vermilion,
Who holds a formidable staff to break obstacles,
Who is worshipped by the multitude of gods led by Indra.

(2) Arise, arise, O Ganesha! For the morning has come.
The deities are eager to worship you,
O Lord of obstacles, O Supreme Lord of gods.

(3) With saffron-colored rays, bright and shining,
With water lilies blooming in streams,
May this morning bring auspiciousness quickly to your devotees, O Ganesha.

(4) In the morning, I bow to you always, O Lord with elephant face,
O Supreme Lord. Salutations to you, the best guide,
Who grants fearlessness eternally.

(5) May the morning shine with happiness, may Shambhu's son shine at dawn,
May this Ganesha shine in the morning, my beloved Gana.

(6) Adorned in white garments, resplendent with the beauty of his face,
With a face like the moon, I take refuge in him,
Rising at dawn, I worship him.

(7) He who eats modakas; without him, the living beings and Ganas,
Would not exist. O one worshipped even by Indra and others,
In the morning, I bow to you.

(8) Salutation in the morning to the bestower of boons,
Whose feet cause the mouse to stumble,
O Gana-faced one. O Lord, grant me a boon.

(9) You are born first eternally, your name shines first,
You are remembered first by all,
O Maheshvara, you are the first.

(10) You are the one-tusked (Ekadanta), you are the second,
You are the three-eyed or four-formed one,
You are the five-faced, six-faced, or bearer of all forms, O Gana.

(11) Elephant-faced, accompanied by elephants, or the Gana-worshipped,
Vinayaka, or the king of obstacles,
Ganapati, the bestower of boons.

(12) Bestower of all accomplishments, destroyer of all obstacles,
Most auspicious among the auspicious, bestower of happiness to devotees.

(13) In the morning I remember the Lord of gods, the Lord of obstacles,
Bestower of all accomplishments.
In the morning I bow to the Lord of gods, the elephant-faced one,
Like the Lord himself.

(14) In the morning I worship the Lord of gods, the Lord of obstacles,
Bestower of all accomplishments.
In the morning I salute the Lord of gods, the elephant-faced one,
Like the Lord himself.
