English Translation

Shiva said:

I shall proclaim the Ganesha Hrdaya, which bestows all accomplishments,

O Great Ones, for the seeker, quickly bestowing supreme peace.

For this Sri Ganesha Hrdaya stotra and mantra, Shambhu is the rishi,

Various meters are used,

For pleasing Sri Ganapati, to attain desired results, the application is japa,

'Gam' is the nyasa.

Meditation:

I meditate on the red-complexioned, three-eyed one,

With large belly, wrapped in red cloth,

Holding noose, goad, boon-giving and fear-dispelling hands,

One who is attained through Siddhi and Buddhi, the elephant-faced Lord,

The single-tusked one, adorned with many ornaments, giving joy to his devotees,

Complete Ganesha.

Om, I worship Ganesha, the single-tusked one, the wish-fulfilling gem, Vinayaka,

The Lord of Dundi, the Lord of peacocks, the large-bellied one, the elephant-faced one.

Heramba, the curved-trunked one, the eldest king, established in his own nature,

The fulfiller of desires, the boon-giver, the frightening one, supporter of the earth.

I worship the Lord of Siddhi and Buddhi, known as Brahaspati,

The Lord of auspiciousness, worthy of all worship, the supreme leader of the Vighnas.

The twenty-one names of the great-souled Ganesha,

Combined with their meanings, are called the Hrdaya (Heart).

The letter 'Ga' represents all movable and immovable beings,

The letter 'Na' is Brahma, the Supreme,

The ganas are said to reside in them,

I salute that supreme Ganesha alone.

He whose form is Maya, who is indicated by the single word,

Beyond the teeth, bearing the form of Maya,

In the yoga of both, the single 'Da' is pleasing,

I bow to Him, devoted to the love of people.

He who shines as consciousness-light in various forms,

Free from attachments and aversions,

Without enjoyments but the cause of enjoyments,

I daily salute that Chintamani.

Vinayaka, devoid of any other leader, O beloved,

Especially called the Lord of Lords, the Self of all,

I always salute the unrestrained one,

The Self of all, with a mind full of devotion.

Vedas, Puranas, and the like starting with Maheshvara,

Scriptures known to Yogeshvara, humans,

Nagas, Asuras, Brahma ganas, and all beings,

I salute Dundi, thus the King of Dundi.

Meaningful in Maya, shining like a peacock,

Creating various illusions through that,

Therefore sages call Him the Lord of Peacocks,

I salute the Lord of Maya, present everywhere.

From whose belly this entire universe was born,

In whose belly the four-faced Brahma resides,

Whose belly is indeed infinite in form,

I ever bow to that large-bellied one.

For the leader of ganas, who supports the worlds,

The elephant-headed Brahma, the supreme Lord,

Therefore all proclaim the yoga of both,

I ever salute that elephant-faced one.

Meaningful to the poor, thus the world moves,

Meaningful to Brahman in the scriptures, delight,

Because of his protecting nature, the use of both,

I ever salute Heramba alone.

Whose body alone is universal-formed,

Therefore his face is the form of the Supreme Self,

The trunk is indeed that, in the use of both,

I ever salute that curved-trunked one.

Mother and Father are superior to the worlds,

Even of them, He is mother, creator, etc.,

The scriptures call Him the supreme Lord,

I ever salute that eldest king.

With four faces, various Self-natures,

With union form, his own true form,

That which is complete for the complete, the samadhi form,

I salute from below, the Lord of His own bliss.

Filling desires here, O Ganga,

Of moving and unmoving, of worlds and superior beings,

Therefore sages call Ganesha,

The fulfiller of desires, I ever salute Him.

Established by boons, everything is indeed,

The world and the Brahma-walker,

Therefore the wise speak of the Supreme,

I salute the boon-giver, the boon-giver.

This entire world of Maya shines,

The form of falsehood, causing delusion,

Therefore the scriptures speak of the Supreme Truth,

I salute the Supreme Lord, the frightening one.

The sages spoke of the heart on earth,

In various ways, indeed the sages, O Ganga,

He is always the supporter of those,

I am indeed the supporter of the earth, the primordial being.

Indeed intelligence is Brahma-formed,

From that, delusion and siddhi arise,

With those, the Lord of Yoga always plays,

I again salute that Lord of Siddhi and Buddhi.

Creating unlike, like, beyond the three,

The creator of Brahmas, the player,

He always shines by his own yoga-maya,

I bow to Him thus, O Brahaspati.

This world is inauspicious with self-beings,

With union and separation, the perishable,

Therefore holding the auspicious form,

I salute the Lord of Auspiciousness, the bestower of supreme peace.

Who is present everywhere, manifesting all,

Worshipped by good people with good and bad offerings,

Worthy of worship, not agreed upon by scriptures,

I ever salute that all-worthy one.

When pleased, He gives enjoyment and liberation,

O dear to His devotees, the destroyer of obstacles,

When devoid of devotion, He gives obstacles,

I ever salute that King of Obstacles.

O beloved, the meaning of the names was told,

The supreme secret of Vighnesha,

Whosoever is a human who knows the heart of the seventy-three names,

Becomes one with the Supreme Brahman here.
